Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually changes into a smudge on concrete. But usually before then, pedestrians and clientele walking into a business will step on the chewing gum and get it in all over the carpets and mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Plano TX. Find more information on our service below:
The best methods for removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable consistency compared to a warm and stringy glob. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. Then we move the scraper very slowly under the gum and the whole piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above process is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is already smashed down into the concrete, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we will not use very high pressure because that will sometimes harm the surface of the concrete!
Our pressure washers never uses any more pressure than needed to clean concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged much easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal professional.
To completely remove chewing gum from concrete and other commercial surfaces we use specially designed hot water pressure washing tools and professional-grade soaps that allow us to clean the concrete without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we can safely remove gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our method will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that are found in gum.
By hiring Plano Pressure Washing for routine maintenance cleaning at your property, your commercial property will have better curb appeal and your gum removal problems will be over! You will also prevent damage to carpets and flooring while making your storefront much more inviting to visitors.
